A Global leader in technology hardware and software devices which is regarded as a leading Consumer Electronics brand seeks the support of a Data Protection Legal Counsel. This business is a household consumer name with sales turnover of £30 bn. You will have gained at least 5 years PQE as a data protection lawyer with a range of legal skills including legal research, drafting and negotiation, as well as good commercial and technology experience.


The Role
You will work within the Europe Office Legal and Compliance Team providing data protection advice on regulatory/compliance matters. This role offers a wide focus where you will advise on data protection law matters which impact the business and its Europe Office teams. You will be responsible for advising and working on relevant data protection structures to ensure data protection compliance, including engaging in dialogue with Business HQ and the other subsidiaries across the EU. Part of this role requires you to assist on the research of legal issues, case law and legislative developments. You will support and advise the Senior Legal Management and the legal team on regulatory developments that are likely to affect its area of work and/or its regulatory landscape.

The Candidate
Must have a minimum of 4 years PQE working as a data protection lawyer in addition to experience as an In-House Counsel. Ideally you will have a wide range of legal skills including legal research, drafting and negotiation, as well as good commercial and technology experience. Candidates should have good academics and have trained at a top tier UK practice or international law firm. Must have a good overall grasp of compliance issues, particularly data protection and ideally have experience of advising global consumer products brands. In-house experience is desirable, although not required. For the successful candidate a £5k car allowance, generous bonus and pension plan with flexible benefits allowance and 25 days annual leave is on offer.
