Job Purpose
• Responsible for defining, implementing and managing the organisations Global Purchasing Strategy for Production, New Model Programmes and Contract Management Purchasing.
• Provide leadership to the Purchasing organisation to deliver the functional and business objectives through the management and development of the Purchasing Management Team and Supplier Base, to ensure adherence to business strategy and practices.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
• Deputise for Purchasing Director as and when required
• Lead the coordination of Central and Local Government Funding initiatives
• Lead and manage a Purchasing Management team covering Production Purchasing, Programmes and Contract Management
• Develop and assign Objectives in support of the Purchasing Department Vision and Company Objectives
• Provide strategic Purchasing direction in support of current production and new model programmes sourcing requirements
• Provide Senior Management support to the Purchasing Management Team with respect to delivery of the Objectives set
• Balance headcount in line with business needs and make recommendations where necessary to the Purchasing Director in support of Programme definition
• Lead and manage either directly or indirectly resolution strategies for key Supplier issues
• Responsible for Purchasing Programme Management, including determining Programme content through the Programme Governance Reviews and issue resolution through the Programme Gateways.
• Lead the Supplier Champion Reviews as a Supplier Executive Champion for key Programme commodities
• Lead the Purchasing Management team in the development and implementation of all Purchasing strategies, ensuring compatibility with the business strategy and Objectives
• Lead the preparation for Internal and External Audits and the resolution of any non-conformities or observations identified
• Lead and support the Purchasing management team in the identification and delivery of approved Training
• Mentor Graduates and or new members of the Department, as and when required
• Other task as and when assigned

Qualifications & Experience
• Ideally the successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and be a full member of CIPS.
• The individual should hold a full driving licence and be prepared to travel where their specific work responsibilities require it.
• The individual will have very strong Purchasing experience ideally within a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of Management
